Your site has to be mobile friendly these days – that’s a given. But even with a responsive site there are still ways to easily identify possible issues and continue to improve the user experience. Vivek has a tip on how you can do this if your site is linked to Google Webmaster Tools.
“At the end of 2014, Google Webmaster Tools introduced a new feature called Mobile Usability.
This part of GWT essentially crawls and looks at your site from a purely mobile perspective and will then provide suggestions on how you can improve your site. When you log in to GWT, go to Search Traffic and then Mobile Usability. The report will run and will then provide a list of suggestions of how best to improve your site for mobile devices. Each item can be selected for more information and a step-by-step guide of how to verify and fix the issue.
This can be really helpful if you’re looking to improve overall user experience on the site (and hopefully reduce the likes of bounce rate and improve conversions), and can help you to identify and tweak things such as font size, Flash usage, viewport issues, and even whether certain touch elements (such as buttons) may be too close together. A great insight into those smaller things that are easy to overlook and to miss.”
