Search engine optimisation, or ‘SEO’ as it’s commonly called, is the process of developing your website so that the visibility of the web page or website in search engines’ unpaid results (referred to as organic results) improves.
This means you get unpaid traffic from the search engines as a result and can often be a very cost effective tactic. When renewing websites you might want to look at getting an SEO audit or outsourcing the whole optimisation process so that you can take advantage of the ‘free’ traffic you get as a result.

Schema.org is another metatag that can allow you to show product pictures or user reviews, again differentiating you from a standard text SERP, and improving your chances of CTR.

The graph above shows the impact of the position of your ad in the organic search result. Being first gives a 17.16% CTR. So you might get 1716 clicks from every 10,000 searches. In comparison, being 10th might mean you get just 51 clicks from every 10,000 searches.
