Name, title and what are you doing at Quru?

My name is Minna Kruhse and my title is Client and Business Development Director. I am an account manager for some of our key accounts and do some development work for Quru’s own business as well.

How did you end up at Quru?

I have known some of the people here for over a decade from a previous company. When there was an opportunity for me to start working with Quru, it was an easy decision for me because I had friends here and knew they are a good bunch of people, working in an interesting field of data and analytics. I have been here for a little bit over a year now.

What have you been doing lately?

I have been working on interesting client cases with our consultants as well as developing our own product offering at Quru. Developing our own product offering means both developing completely new services, as well as enhancing our current product offering by developing more comprehensively packaged, formulated and productized solutions to make it easier for our clients to see their value.

What is your most recent discovery from your work?

There are micro-discoveries every day. For instance, our recent client survey opened up certain things as to what the most important things are that matter to our clients.

What is the most challenging thing about your work?

Should always remember not just to look at a particular project at hand, but also to have a bigger picture. It’s a combination of everyday things and projects that need to get delivered, while also looking into the future; looking at what really matters, what things we really should be focusing on, what the direction is and what the goals are.

What is the most relevant thing about your expertise?

In my current role, it helps that I have worked both at the agency side and also at the client side, so I know what the challenges in both are. I have been buying services from companies like Quru. I know what the sales or marketing person’s agenda looks like at the client’s end, so I understand their daily challenges that they need to deal with, and their work prioritization processes. It helps me adjust our client work to match our client’s everyday lives and to relate to their needs. I think that has been helpful to me and hopefully to the clients too.

What new is happening in your field?

We have clients from very different industries, but overall, I think our clients’ businesses are becoming much more digital. This brings the need for data and data driven decision making. You need to learn so many new technologies and ways of working and totally different skill sets. There are a lot of things happening in the field now. Whilst most of our client’s decisions are based on some data already, and this is a good thing for Quru since we are firm believers in data-driven decision-making, it also puts a lot of challenges at our clients’ end to manage this information overflow that they are sometimes faced with.

How has the industry changed during your career?

Social media was not even there when I started my career. There was no analytics industry when I started my career, and digital was a very minor thing. Now it is everything. And there are still so many more technologies that people are talking about, like blockchains, 5G, AR, VR, 3D printing, IoT. Everything is just mind-blowing. I think we have not seen it all yet.

If you could only choose one application/program for your job, what would it be?

Probably PowerPoint. In my role it is mostly about making sense to our clients. Having some visual material that can be presented to our clients and simplifying things. The simplification is in my case done with PowerPoint, so it is my most important tool.

What is the best thing about working at Quru?

People. There is a lot of knowledge with the people. They have in-depth knowledge and it never seizes to amaze me what kind of information they can go into and dig out to find answers to questions that seemed impossible. When the clients ask something, we are scratching our heads, putting out minds together and are somehow able to find the answers. I have the privilege of working with such knowledgeable people that are also passionate about their work and do not give up easily. If they do not find the answer right away, they will look into it and dig deeper. And even though we work as part of the bigger Salomaa Group, we still have a very entrepreneurial, small company feel in Quru.

Having worked with digital marketing, media and several businesses for 15+ years, I’m now helping our clients to get the most out of data and analytics to improve their business. My background from large corporations such as Elisa, Sanoma and Nokia, enables me to see the world from our clients’ perspective, and provide assistance and sparring on our clients’ current business issues.

I strongly believe that the importance of utilizing data in all decision-making is going to further increase in the upcoming years, and when combined with advanced tools such as machine learning and AI, those marketeers who have adopted the tools early will have a clear advantage over the competition.
