Interview

Name, title and what are you doing at Quru?

My name is Sampsa Eloranta and I´m working as technical web analyst. I work closely with our lead analysts and usually use some tag management system to implement the needs for our customers. That is basically it, but I have noticed lately that I am communicating more and more with our customers´technical partners to meet the solutions in the most optimal way.

How did you end up at Quru?

I was actually doing my exchange studies in Lisbon at the time when I browsed through social media and noticed a post where Quru was looking for a data engineer. I was studying embedded systems in LUT, but at that time I was so interested in data analytics that I sent my job application through LinkedIn. Approximately a week after that we had a Skype call with couple current colleagues of mine and I eventually started in January 2018 so it makes two years for me working here at Quru.

What have you been doing lately

I have one bigger website renewal analytics implementation under process and that requires a lot of sketching, planning and implementing. Otherwise, it´s been ongoing work like marketing campaign, tracking implementations, quality testing, error troubleshooting and supporting in different kinds of things.

What is your most recent discovery about your work?

I have noticed that communication with every stakeholder of the project is very important.

What is the most challenging thing about your work?

This might be a bit of cliché but probably to keep up with development in general. Technology is moving forward so fast and new tools come up almost every day. We need to find time to look around instead of constantly digging with a shovel.

What new is happening in your field?

I answered this partly already in the previous question, but I think that it is evolving faster than ever. We are still living through digital transformation and the whole industry is changing. AI will probably take the analytics game to a whole new level soon and we have to be able to adapt.

How has the industry changed during your career?

I would say that the mindset of what we are actually doing and what our goals are, has already changed slightly during my 2-year career in field of data analytics. There seems to be a need to dig deeper into data and with more customer focused angles to find more meaningful and relevant insights to take action, compared to what it was 2 years ago. I also see growing needs of integrating different platforms to get a better overall view and understanding of the data. Then again, General Data Protection Regulation was implemented last year, which should be taken into consideration in everything what we do.

What is the most relevant thing about your expertise?

Understanding the technical side of our projects and knowhow on several tools used in the industry.

If you could only choose one application/program for your job, what would it be?

Does browser count? I choose chrome browser.

What is the best thing about working at Quru?

Taking responsibility of your own work and doing things independently. I think that is a really good thing about working at Quru. In addition, if you ever have a problem or face some something you do not know, you can always find a person who is willing to help you.

My focus at Quru is on technical implementation. I set the actual measurements into our customers’ websites and solve technical problems we might face working with our customers. My aim is to delivery high quality data for improving user experiences, optimizing advertising and enhancing business performance in any other ways.

My technical background is in embedded systems. I’m naturally interested in data and the insights it nowadays provides into our everyday life. To harness the best insights possible, I work closely with our professional analysts and project managers
