If you have a self-hosted WordPress site and publish content such as blogs, news stories, etc, this tip is for you! WordPress now integrates with new features from Google and Facebook for faster loading and better user experience!

“WordPress now powers approximately 25% of all websites on the internet. And with news and content consumption on the rise – especially on mobile – getting said content to visitors as simply and as quickly as possible is now more important than ever.

WordPress have recently announced new plugins supporting both Google’s Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) and Facebook’s Instant Articles – both features boasting super-fast loading of content (an average of 4x’s faster with AMP), ensuring there are minimal to zero waiting and load times for users who want to consume content.

The stripped back, mainly text, pages which are cached locally by the services, means fast loading of content on mobile will not only keep visitors engaged, but also goes a long way to helping those in developing nations and areas with poor connectivity to be able to consume content from around the web without using much data and while not having to reply on the likes of 4G and LTE connections and speeds that most of us are used to.

Ad restrictions on Facebook’s Instant Articles have also been relaxed slightly, meaning a lot of publishers are now seeing ad revenue generated from Instant Articles matching that generated from their own mobile properties.

Plugins and further details can be found at wordpress.org, as well as here  for Google AMP, and here  for Facebook Instant Articles.”
